AC/DC – Powerage

So the sleep schedule still is all effed up but seems to be heading in the right direction. I got something that at least resembled a normal night’s sleep last night and I have to go to work and do some running around today, so I’ll at least be out of the house for a good chunk of the day.

But before all the adult type stuff kicks in, may as well just chill for a bit and get another AC/DC record in. Today’s CD is 1978’s ‘Powerage’ the Bon Scott era album I’m the least familiar with. I never owned nor heard this album back in the day when I was first exploring the band’s catalog. I’d see it at the various record and tape stores I used to go to, but since it didn’t have any songs that ended up on the live or compilation records I was familiar with, I assumed it wasn’t any good. A common, and in some cases foolish, the attitude I held in those days. Even now, I’m not even sure if I have listened to it all the way through, today’s spin may be the first.

Even though I never spent any time with this album, I have noticed several people I know and somewhat famous musicians sight ‘Powerage’ as their favorite AC/DC record. It seems to be that fairly obscure record by the band that only the true fans know about. Or maybe it’s just because none of its songs have been completely murdered by the radio. Or simply because it rocks. Depends on who you ask I suppose. Either way, I’m enjoying it while I write this. And that’s all that matters really.

P.S. how do you pronounce records title? Is it “Power-rage” or “power-age”?

About Dc3 Pratt Productions

My name is Dave and I play at being in the music business. I'm a stagehand, backline tech, musician, songwriter, producer, engineer, videographer, photographer, journalist and graphic artist. In other words, I have a low-level industry job, a few consumer based production programs, a smart phone, a decent computer, and a few other accessories for creating music and video projects and have a basic grasp of how to use all them. I mainly write music reviews of my own record and CD collection, but I occasionally produce some music with horrible videos to go along with them that I post to YouTube, that next to no one watches beside a handful of close friends and family. I've created this sort make-believe record company as a forum to house all of my artistic creations. Mainly so I can direct my friends and family to a single place to check out my stuff if they want. I have no skills or talent in any of these creative endeavors I dabble in but continue to do them anyway. Hopefully, someone will find a use for them, but I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon.
